All I can think of when I see this story everywhere is that movie In the Line of Fire. The bad guy created a plastic gun so he could get it through metal detectors. That's exactly what this is. Not only is there no way to register or keep track of these, there's no way to keep them out of events, airports, etc. The bullets are much easier to hide and get through check points. The guns were the hard part; now that's eliminated.
Anyone who thinks this is great ...
The answer is that none of them are going anywhere. They all have huge cash cows that will keep them viable for a very long time.
You could be right on your interpretation but that really doesn't change much IMO. MS has very few big exclusives anymore. They have Halo, GOW, Fable, and Forza. There may be some I'm forgetting but there really aren't that many after those big ones and those four are getting VERY stale. The worst part of it is that MS isn't really even trying to make new IP's and they're moving towards the casual market.
I used to love Xbox but the lack of new IP&...
The reviews aren't very good for them, from what I've seen. Tries to be a laptop and a tablet and manages to do neither as well as a true laptop or true tablet.
If you've read any benchmarks on RT(the software), you'd know that it's anything but fast and stable. It's extremely bloated.
While it looks(not aesthetically) WAY better than the SufaceRT, it's still overpriced IMO(just like the RT). At least throw in the keyboard.
I'm with you on John Carter. It was a solid movie. I'm not really sure what people hated about it. I think its problem was poor marketing.
Also, that alien dog thing is one of the coolest creatures I've seen in a movie in a while.
Maybe I should have clarified it further? I wasn't saying the US went into Afg/Pak for the metal. I'm saying that's (at least one big reason)why they refuse to leave. The geological survey that revealed all the metal and stones was only done a few years ago. Now that the US knows that, they aren't going to leave. They are going to try and stabilize the area so they can ensure they can secure the metal/stones later on.
It's not the oil the US wants in Pakistan and Afghanistan(there isn't any). It's the HUGE amounts of semiprecious metals and precious stones and metals. Our electronics are comprised of those semiprecious metals and we need more places to find them. That's why we have such an interest in the area. Iraq was for oil, Afg and Pak. were for the metal.
I'm not sure why they would consider a $100 yearly subscription to Office a win. That's a fail in my book. I'm so fricken sick of every company trying to come up with ways to charge monthly/yearly subscriptions to everything.
I have to disagree with you on the Surface. The hardware is under powered and the device is over priced.
I really wanted the Surface to be a success but after reading what a lot of people are saying and seeing the price, forget it. MS messed up IMO.
Tell me again how they are going to develop a cure for diseases by blasting rocks and taking pictures on Mars?
Anyone disagreeing with Crazay doesn't know the real Steve Jobs. He was an asshole. He may not have been the worst in corporate American history but he was bad.
Apple's stock took a nasty hit when the price was announced. Wall St. didn't like it either.
Sorry, but Steve Jobs wasn't nearly as innovative as people seem to think he was. Everything Apple came out with had already been done by other companies, just not executed as well. If you want to call "getting the execution correct", innovative, then go ahead. I'm pretty sure that philosophy was around before him, though.
Apple sheep will still buy it like hot cakes so the price really doesn't matter.
Holy crap what a rip off.
You can get an iPad 3 for $300.
First off, has MS said how many tablets they "sold out" of? For all we know, it could be 10,000.
Secondly, like fatstarr said, MS royally screwed up with the pricing. For that price it should have included the keyboard- and even then I think it should have been cheaper.
Face the facts, the apps for this thing are a joke when compared to Apple or even Android. Also, MS has a horrible reputation. Other than the Xbox, what has MS made that's be...
In the short term, no. In the long term, probably yes.
It's the same principle they took with the Xbox. They lost TONS of money with the original Xbox. They knew they would. They did it anyways because they knew it would get their foot in the door in that industry and lead to much bigger things. They now plan on the Xbox being the home entertainment hub for the entire family- not just kids.
The same could be said with the tablet segment. Get you f...
How about using these in America? People just assume America has this great internet when in fact it's horrible compared to other developed nations. Not only is it slower, it's also much more expensive because there's no competition. And that's the people that CAN get broadband. For rural America, they're STILL stuck with dial up or rip-off satellite internet. Believe it or not, AOL still makes a fortune off of dial-up because of how many people are stuck with it(dial...
